Beautiful antique Art Nouveau / Neo-Renaissance brooch in 800 silver, Gustav Hauber

  

Magnificent antique solid silver brooch (hallmarked 800), with an exceptionally rare openwork design and remarkable craftsmanship, attributed to the renowned German house Gustav Hauber (Schwäbisch Gmünd). It features a picturesque and romantic Historicist / Art Nouveau-style scene, framing two delicate putti (or cupids) on either side of a superb oval cabochon in natural mineral stone (chrysocolla type) with speckled blue and greenish tones. A collector’s piece with timeless charm and a strong presence.

Condition: Very good antique condition, with an authentic patina full of character.

The fastening system (antique pin with hook) works perfectly.

Hallmarks: “800” fineness mark for silver and the goldsmith’s maker’s mark visible on the back.

Period / Style: Late 19th century – early 20th century / Jugendstil & Neo-Renaissance style.

Goldsmith: Attributed to Gustav Hauber.

Materials: 800 silver and blue mineral stone (chrysocolla type).

Cabochon dimensions: 17 mm x 23 mm.
