Magnificent and imposing rigid open cuff bracelet dating from the late 19th century. A remarkable example of traditional Southeast Asian metalwork from the Golden Triangle region, demonstrating exceptional craftsmanship and precision. Made of high-purity solid silver (tested), a dense yet malleable metal beautifully worked.
Richly decorated with hand-chased and repoussé motifs, the bracelet depicts GARUDA, the winged protective deity, enthroned above the coloured central cabochon against a finely textured background. The sides feature a frieze of mythological guardian deities beneath fully blossoming lotus flowers. The lower edge is adorned with exquisite chased floral friezes, while the upper edge has an elaborate lobed outline.
The central cabochon consists of a disc of stone or mother-of-pearl, perfectly preserved in its original setting. In very good antique condition overall.
