Antique silver-engraved and abalone (mother-of-pearl) inlaid frame, circa 1900
Old circular frame made around 1900, in tested solid silver, decorated with an abalone marquetry inlay with iridescent green, blue, pink, and violet reflections. The mount is finely engraved with scrolling foliage, while the abalone plaques, all different, create a remarkable play of natural colors. The back is made of tin. The piece as a whole reflects fine-quality craftsmanship from the late 19th or early 20th century.
The silver is not hallmarked but has been tested as solid silver. A very beautiful decorative piece that can hold a mirror or a photograph, or simply be displayed as a collector’s item. Tested solid silver, abalone, tin. Inner diameter: 10.7 cm.
